Preparation
Bespoke cases built around the role
Deep creates original consulting cases and adapts preparation to the candidate’s target firms, markets and areas of interest.
Rather than relying only on standard casebooks, he can build exercises around the commercial and policy questions a candidate is more likely to encounter. Previous themes have included sustainability, housing, economic development, real estate, travel and tourism, market entry and public-sector strategy.
Cases can be tailored according to:
- The geography in which the candidate is applying
- The industry or practice area
- The style and focus of the target firm
- Whether the interview emphasises strategy, implementation, analytics or public policy
- The candidate’s current strengths and weaknesses
This helps candidates practise transferable case skills while engaging with contexts that feel relevant to their actual recruitment process.
Firm-relevant preparation without relying on confidential or improperly obtained interview content.
Breadth
Experience across cases, sectors and markets
Deep has worked through and coached a wide range of consulting cases across different sectors, geographies and types of commercial problem. This breadth allows him to help candidates recognise recurring analytical patterns while adapting their approach to different markets and industries.
- Sustainability and climate
- Housing and real estate
- Economic development
- Public policy
- Travel and tourism
- Market entry
- Growth strategy
- Organisational and implementation questions
- International and emerging markets
He has supported candidates pursuing roles across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Spanish-speaking markets.
Judgement
The techniques that distinguish strong candidates
Having reviewed and coached a large number of cases across sectors and international markets, Deep is familiar with the patterns that repeatedly distinguish stronger candidates.
He helps clients recognise what the interviewer is testing, prioritise the analysis that matters and avoid common mistakes such as over-structuring, excessive calculation, weak synthesis or recommendations that are not supported by the evidence.
The emphasis is not on shortcuts. It is on developing the judgement, flexibility and communication habits required to perform consistently across unfamiliar cases.
- Identifying the real decision behind the question
- Structuring without forcing a memorised framework
- Prioritising the most important branches of analysis
- Forming and updating hypotheses
- Recognising when an interviewer is offering guidance
- Interpreting exhibits efficiently
- Avoiding unnecessary calculations
- Checking commercial plausibility
- Synthesising rather than merely summarising
- Giving a clear and defensible recommendation
- Communicating confidently when information is incomplete

Feedback can track interview performance, structure and communication, analytical strengths, recurring case-interview weaknesses, presentation quality, Excel or PowerPoint development and preparation priorities before the next assessment.

Perspective
First-hand experience of both the interview and the coaching process
Deep has personally completed a demanding consulting recruitment process and repeatedly coached others through it. He joined Dalberg Global Development Advisors after three rounds of case interviews, and was one of two candidates selected through that recruitment process that year.
At Harvard Business School, he was selected through the careers service to coach first year MBA students preparing for consulting case interviews.
This combination helps him distinguish between techniques that merely sound polished and the reasoning, prioritisation and communication that interviewers need to see.
Deep’s coaching is also informed by experience leading consulting assignments, structuring ambiguous questions, managing analytical teams and presenting recommendations to senior clients.
He served as a lead expert on a BCG-led consortium assignment and managed a nine-person multidisciplinary team.
He has also served as an interim economics director, allocating work and overseeing delivery across multiple client projects.
